News and UpdatesApril 2, 2009 - Our first poultry sale of the year happens on Saturday, April 18 at 9:00 a.m. at Templeton Feed & Grain. We will have young laying hens in several heritage breeds this year, including Barred and Partridge Plymouth Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, New Hampshires, Speckled Sussex, Rhode Island Reds and Minorcas. As always, there will be other breeds including bantams for sale from our members' flocks. Come early for the best selection! September 28, 2008 - As is tradition, the October meeting is before our annual show, and since the show is two weekends earlier than normal this year, so is the annual work meeting. The October meeting will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2 at the Stallings residence in Paso Robles. Volunteers are needed to come out and help load cages and prepare coop cards! There will be no other meeting in the month of October. August 30, 2008 - Our show catalog and entry form are now online! Entries must be postmarked by September 22, 2008. Please make motel reservations early if you're coming from out of the area - lodging space is usually limited in and around Paso Robles, although we do have the luxury of a few new places opening up since last year. We look forward to seeing you at the show! Also, CCFF is having another poultry sale this year on Saturday September 20, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Templeton Feed & Grain. Get there early for the best selection! July 11, 2008 - It's time again for the annual summer meeting lawn show and potluck! Bring your birds to show off - and cages to show them off in - for informal evaluation by your peers in poultry. The lawn show is the perfect time to share both the young champions you are raising and the odd projects that perhaps won't make the showroom. Please also bring a dish for the potluck dinner. If you are looking for young laying hens, April 5 will be the time to get yours! Our laying hen fundraiser project is in full swing again this year. Also in today's update, I have added information to the Show Calendar and front page for the 20th Annual Angelus Ranus 4-H Youth Poultry Show. March 15, 2008 - Several updates around the site to report on today. First, and most obvious: the home page has been updated with information on meetings and upcoming events for 2008. Secondly, our show dates have been confirmed as October 4-5, 2008. Please note that this is the first weekend in October this year, instead of our usual dates on the third weekend of October. California National (Cal-National) has a new website, a Yahoo Group which all Cal-National members are invited to join to check up on their point standings, et cetera. Also added to our Links page is a link to the Northern Nevada Poultry Fanciers Association, a Cal-National affiliate. The Show Calendar has also been updated to reflect 2008 show dates and information - however, I have trimmed it back to shows more local to Central Coast Feather Fanciers, which I am regularly "in the loop" on. If you have information I don't have on the calendar on county fair poultry shows, youth poultry shows, etc., you are invited to please send your information to the webmaster. There is a link to the 2007 calendar for your reference for other clubs/fairs/shows outside of California and Nevada. |
